Tis the season
For lack of a better reason,
To take time off to think
And try this new drink.
If your goal this holiday is to get sauced,
Then try a Gentleman Jack Frost (excuse the poor rhyme on that one).
Ok, I promise I wont try to open a post with a rhyme for quite some time… Ok I’m done.
So to the point, we here at the Bren and Sven laboratory have discovered a great drink for the winter holidays known only as the Gentlemen Jack Frost. Now as much as we would love to take credit for this little cozy concoction of winter wonder, credit must be given where credit is due and this is brought to you by the Mixer Maestros of Flemings Bar and Grill. The Gentleman Jack Frost is a finely balanced mix of Gentlemen Jack, Tuaca Liquor, Hard Cider, Simple Syrup, and a dash of cinnamon. This combination results in a flavor that fits elegantly and perfectly with the holiday season. The rich and smooth oak flavors of the American classic, Gentleman Jack, mixed with the sweet vanilla and citrus flavors of the Italian Liquor, Tuaca, lightened with the crisp carbonated hard cider and a dash of cinnamon results in a drink that has the classic flavor of warm apple cider with the relaxing comfort of some rather potent, yet well disguised, alcohol. Below are list of ingredients and instructions so that you may try this at home. This drink is great for any holiday party, though not recommended for your company holiday party. We impart this knowledge upon you with a word of caution: this drink goes down really easily and it is not hard to have a few too many (as we have found out). We hope this drink enriches your winter season, and from all of us in the BrenandSven team we wish you a Happy Holidays and look forward to seeing you in the New Year!

The Gentlemen Jack Frost
Fleming’s Gentleman Jack Frost
Ingredients
¾ oz Gentleman Jack Bourbon
¾ oz Tuaca liqueur
1 ½ oz Hard Cider (Fleming’s prefers Hornsby’s Amber Draft – 6% alcohol)
¼ oz simple syrup (see recipe below)
1/8 tsp ground cinnamon
Instructions
Combine ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice and pour into a martini glass. Garnish with a cinnamon stick as shown. For a more festive garnish, skewer a thin slice of red apple that is on a cinnamon stick. Use a thick wooden pick — like one used for chicken kabobs — for pre-drilling the apple slice. Insert the skewer into top half of the apple slice at an angle and hang it on the rim of the martini glass.
Simple syrup
Simple syrup is a common ingredient for cocktails like our Gentleman Jack Frost. As the name implies, it’s simple to make. Combine one cup of water and one cup of granulated white sugar in a saucepan. Bring to a boil and stir until sugar is fully dissolved. Allow to cool slightly before using as a cocktail mixer.
