There’s nothing gay about it, guys like other guys, we just happen to love or lust over women (unless you are gay, and that’s cool too). Lets face it fellas, women and men are two separate creatures; we operate and think differently. As much fun women can be, at times you just want to “hang with the guys”. The concept of a BroMance is nothing entirely new, it just happens to be a catchy description of the greatness that is straight guy-love.
So you and your close buddy or buddies are working and living individual lives. How do you keep the guy love going? You mandate a Man-Date. This will give you and the guys a reason to meet up and continue the beauty of a BroMance.
Now there are no rules to how a Man-Date works. That’s what is great about it all, it is entirely up to you and the guys how you establish one, but it is best to have a standard or format for optimum consistency.
This Man-Date guide comes from on of my pals and his posse (thanks for the idea Pett). So you and your pal/s meet once a week, and you guys have two items on the agenda: a meal and an activity. To keep it fair, a spending cap is predetermined for the entire Man-Date. Cheaper might be better since it allows for everyone to not have to worry about going for broke, but that is entirely up to you. Now lets say there’s 3 bodies in your clique (A,B, and C), responsibility and organization of the particular Man-Date for the week falls on one guy (A). He determines where to eat and what to do. The responsibility then rotates each week to person B followed by C and so on and so on.
So where does the money go? Well, you can have an awesome sit down at a restaurant and skim out on an activity, or maybe you want to go big on the fun factor and hit the dollar menu. If it is your week to choose, it is at your discretion.
An added objective is to institute a friendly competition in the activity (feed the primal urge for domination). Don’t fret, it does not have to be terribly complicated.
Here are a few examples of what a Man-Date can look like:
Meal: Upscale sports bar (Chilli’s, TGIF, The Yardhouse)
Event: Golf driving range w/challenge: longest drive or best shot
or
Meal: Fast food burgers (any fast food joint)
Event: Indoor Go-karting w/challenge: fastest lap or first to finish
or
Meal: Adult eat and play (Dave and Buster’s)
Event: The arcade at D&B w/ challenge: highest score on a game
Now you don’t necessarily have to follow the Bren and Sven guide to Man-Dates; it is merely an example. Feel free to draw up your own, just go out and make an effort. If you yourself have a Man-Date idea, the Bren and Sven team would love to hear it.
